Huawei, which has large investments in autonomous driving technologies, has now reached an agreement with Audi. It was stated that Audi will equip some of its models sold in the Chinese market with Huawei smart driving system. So which will be the first Huawei-supported model?
Audi A5 will support Huawei driving technology
According to reports emerging in China, Audi’s internal combustion vehicles produced after 2026 will feature Huawei’s driver assistance technology. The first Audi model to support it will be the Audi A5, which is expected to be launched later this year and go on sale in 2025.
The Audi A5 will replace the A4 sedan, which is currently the company’s best-selling model in China. For those who don’t know, models like the A4, A6 and Q5 account for a significant portion of Audi’s sales in the Chinese market. That’s why the support with Huawei is very important for Chinese customers.
Audi said it aims to offer customers “best-in-class driver assistance systems” by collaborating with both local and global suppliers. However, it did not name specific partners due to trade secrets. In this context, we only know that it has agreed with Huawei.
Huawei-powered Audi A5 models will be produced by FAW-Audi and SAIC-Audi, Audi’s two China-based joint ventures.
Huawei’s smart driving technology is considered a leader, especially in the Chinese market. The company’s latest Qiankun ADS 3.0 system was launched in August and enables advanced functions such as navigating on autopilot.
